Nutrition 101: Feeding Your Dog or Cat Right
Good nutrition is the cornerstone of your pet's health. The right diet supports energy, coat quality, digestion, and long-term wellness — but with endless options on store shelves, it's easy to feel overwhelmed.
Life stage matters
Puppies and kittens need diets formulated for growth. Adult pets require balanced maintenance nutrition. Seniors may benefit from diets that support joint health and manage weight.
Prescription diets
When pets develop conditions like kidney disease, food allergies, or urinary issues, therapeutic diets can be a powerful part of treatment. We carry a range of prescription options and can help you find the right fit.
Treats and table scraps
Treats should make up no more than 10% of daily calories. Some human foods — chocolate, grapes, onions, and xylitol (found in sugar-free products) — are toxic to pets and should never be shared.
Weight management
Obesity is one of the most common preventable health problems in pets. If you're unsure whether your pet is at a healthy weight, ask us at your next visit. We'll assess body condition and recommend adjustments if needed.
